Dr. Gary N. Clark, CFA, President/Founder

      Gary N. Clark, CFA has had a lifelong interest in economics, financial markets, and portfolio management. Dr. Clark has a PhD in Economics, and is a CFA charterholder.

        Dr. Clark was raised in Southern California and attended Claremont McKenna College (then Claremont Men’s College), earning his degree in Economics. He went on receive his Master's and PhD in Economics from the University of Oklahoma, at Norman. His father, Norman B. Clark, Jr., was a petroleum engineer with Unocal, who caused him to pick up a rich exposure to the oil business. While attending school in Oklahoma, he further gained experience with petroleum and real estate. Dr. Clark also edited Forced Pooling: A Guide for Oklahoma Mineral Owners, by Ralph Wampler. He later spent two years in the military.


      Gary began managing investment portfolios in Oklahoma in the early 1980s, and later relocated back to California. He founded Clark Asset Management + Associates, Inc. in 1989. In addition to helping clients with their investment needs, he has taught Security Analysis, Portfolio Management, and Financial Management at California State University, Long Beach. He has advised many clients, served on many non-profit boards, flown many miles, and read many books. Gary has lived in South Pasadena, Coalinga, Bakersfield, and Whittier. He currently resides in La Crescenta with his wife.

Vincent I. Payne, CFA, Associate

      Vincent Payne joined the Clark Asset Management family in 2012, and attained his Certified Financial Analyst charter from the CFA Institute in 2016. He attended the University of Pacific and graduated in 1987. Vincent went on to attend graduate school at the University of Iowa. Later, Vincent continued his education to pursue a law degree, and attained his J.D. from the University of California Los Angeles in 1998. Mr. Payne is a member of the California Bar.

        Vincent currently resides in Long Beach, California and enjoys spending time in the city, reading, and going to the beach.

For over 30 years Clark Asset Management has provided discretionary investment portfolio management locally and across the nation, helping our clients foster wealth and protect their assets for years to come.

Danielle Wallius, Adminstrative/Associate

      Danielle joined the Clark Asset Management team in 2017 and has always had a passion for finance, wealth management, and investing. She currently attends the University of Southern California in downtown Los Angeles and is in her final year of studies to attain her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She will begin her journey to become CFA certified beginning in the Spring of 2022.

        Aside from finance, Danielle has academic interests in Accounting, Law, and Consulting. At school Danielle has involvement in many professional organizations, namely, LeanIn USC and Smart Women Securities. Additionally, she served as the President of the USC Accounting Society for the 2020-2021 school year. 

        Danielle also enjoys operatic and classical singing, and has been involved in performing arts from a young age. She is an avid hiker, camper, and beachgoer, and enjoys spending time outdoors.

        Danielle is a native of Altadena, California and resides seasonally between her hometown and university apartment.

William Wallius, Administrative Assistant

      William has been with Clark Asset Management since 2022. He currently attends the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is interested in investing and wealth management, as well as high level mathematics and computer science.

     William enjoys hiking, rock climbing, biking, and going to the beach. He also likes to build computers and play piano.
